GoPro Hero 9 black in India is arguably the most leaked GoPro device so far.
Even before the official launch date, interested buyers had already known a lot about it, from the 5K resolution to the front color display. However, there is so much going on that you will be missing out a lot if you pay attention to GoPro Hero 9 black features.
GoPro Hero 9 Black Review
All new hardware
In the last few years, GoPro has changed a lot, both externally and internally. However, this time, the change is more noticeable.
Design-wise, the camera is heavier and bigger than its predecessor and the 1.4-inch color display is a welcoming addition. Picking the Hero 9 up and another change becomes apparent. Compared to Hero 8, this year’s GoPro is up to 6mm wider on each side.
The increase in size also leads to extra weight. GoPro Hero 9 black in India is 158g, 30g heavier than its predecessor.
A heavier GoPro isn’t a selling point at all. But this extra weight is necessary to fit in dual display and a bigger battery.
GoPro Hero 9 Black Dual-Display
The most striking change this year among GoPro Hero 9 black specs is the dual display, a feature GoPro has been developing for a while.
Those who have had experience with GoPro will understand why another display is such a big deal. With earlier versions, pointing the camera toward you is a real challenge and making you the center of the shot requires patient and experiment.
Now with an extra display, the task is ridiculously easy.
Another benefit is the second screen makes it a child-play to line up everything behind you, which is of tremendous help if you are recording yourself with a landmark or a vlog.
While the screen is touch-enabled, the small screen means that the feature wouldn’t be useful very much. You get to choose what’s displayed there, from camera info to your whole shot.
GoPro Hero 9 black in India’s second screen doesn’t have an as high resolution as the primary but it doesn’t matter. Images are clear enough even under harsh sunlight.
On the back, the main screen’s real estate has been increased. It’s now 2.27 inches rather than 2 inches like on older models. The bigger screen means navigating around is now a bit easier.
GoPro Hero 9 Black 5K Videos
Every year, when a new GoPro is introduced, the most important update is higher resolution and frame rate. But when we have already had 4K at 30fps, there wasn’t anywhere else to go. However, this year, the 23.6-megapixel sensor has changed everything.
GoPro Hero 9 black in India is capable of shooting in 5K and offering 20MP photos. Many users will argue that 5K sounds impressive on papers but in reality, how many people actually have the display to watch these footages on?
The answer here is 5K offers more flexibility. In previous models, 4K paired with Linear mode will result in a slight crop in the images. But with the Hero 9, the issue is no more, courtesy of the extra pixels.
The differences between two levels of resolution are the most noticeable when you view content on a desktop or phone screen. The Hero 9 definitely has the edge here thanks to the higher resolution.
Please bear in mind that the 5K isn’t applied to slo-mo because it caps at 30fps.
Battery Life
GoPro Hero 9 black in India comes with a bigger battery and this feature has been on the wishlist of GoPro fans for a long time. Compared to the power cell on Hero 8, the Hero 9’s battery has 500mAh extra, standing at 1,720mAh.
However, a bigger battery doesn’t always mean longer battery life. 5K and dual display are power drain elements and they will tax the device’s juice.
GoPro claimed the battery provides 30% more life, and tests have proven that the company wasn’t exaggerating.
TimeWarp, HyperSmooth (and Horizon Leveling)
On the GoPro Hero 9 black in India, the HyperSmooth 3.0 has the potential to become the default setting for users. This time, according to GoPro, Boost mode is available for every video mode.
This feature, paired with Horizon Leveling and Linear, can create some very cinematic results.
On Hero 9, TimeWarp gets a new feature called half time. The ability to jump out of TimeWarp for a bit of real-time has been well loved but this year, GoPro has taken things a little further by offering you half of the real-time.
Power Tools
Some cool new features on the Hero 9 are Scheduled Capture, HindSight, and Duration. As you may have guessed, the first function allows you to set date and time. Duration lets you set a time period for the GoPro to record for.
The highlight here is HindSight, which records for a loop of 30 seconds before you press the shutter button. You don’t want to leave HindSight on though, as it will drain your battery fast.
